Aventa Collection – New Bedroom TV Furniture Includes Wardrobe Storage

One of our favorite things about being furniture designers is the opportunity to create things that people really need, but don’t always exist in the marketplace.

The new Aventa Collection is our most recent example of this. While customers have been enjoying our modern entertainment centers and wardrobe closets individually for a long while, until now when customers wanted to combine wardrobe storage and TV display furniture in their bedrooms the only choice was to get quoted for a full custom piece.

As far as we’ve been able to tell, that was true everywhere. Even though it’s very common for people to have a television and clothes in their bedroom (you probably already knew that), many customers have attempted to shop around for comparable furniture and reported an inability to find any furniture designed to hold both without starting a custom design from scratch… until now.

Bedroom Furniture Has Evolved Forever

Our new Aventa Collection is so unlike anything that exists in the marketplace, we must confess it was a bit challenging to come up with a name for it.

We finally decided to call them bedroom wall units. While any entertainment wall unit could be used in the bedroom, entertainment furniture usually has a focus on elements like open display space and dedicated media and electronics areas.

This makes sense for a living room or other common space used for entertaining, but most people don’t need that in their bedrooms. It’s a far better use of bedroom space to combine the television with dedicated wardrobe storage space like hanging cabinets and armoire drawers.

As a result of these simple observations the bedroom wall unit was born, right here in New Jersey, a few miles across the Hudson from downtown NYC.

Custom is Still King

While the release of the Aventa wardrobe walls makes this furniture more affordable, we haven’t strayed from our roots of custom furniture design.

Like all of our furniture, even the “standard” units are customizable, with a few hundred combinations of finishes available and a number of handle choices. Finishes include black, white, mirrored, about a dozen wood finishes, and about two dozen colors of glass fronts.

Closet Too Small? A Wardrobe Cabinet May be the Solution

There’s no shortage of closet organization advice out there. Small closets are clearly a big problem, and we find them staring us in the face every day.

One of the most useful ideas is to purge your closet of items that you no longer wear. Sometimes a wardrobe thinning can be a miracle solution, but sometimes the issue is a plain old lack of space.

This is an especially common happenstance in the northeast, cities like New York, Philadelphia and Boston. This historic area of the country still has many homes from an era when a built-in closet was a rarity. As recently as a few dozen years ago, it was commonplace for homeowners and apartment dwellers alike to place their own stand alone wardrobe closet in the bedroom.

NYC is another story altogether, as anybody who has ever spent time in a city apartment will already know. It seems as though space (closet or otherwise) has been at a premium here forever.

If you have the space and the willpower to transform your existing closet into a well-organized mecca of wardrobe efficiency, it’s a project well worth spending a weekend on.

Before you go out for a box of trash bags, however, be aware that there’s another option.

Enter the Wardrobe Closet!

If you have a few square feet of floor space available, the solution is as simple as bringing in a wardrobe closet. If you don’t mind spending the weekend building it, you could order a cheap flat pack closet. Of course, then you’ve only really traded a closet cleaning project for a closet building project.

Contempo Space Delights Furniture Customers with Customer Service

With the upcoming High Point Market expected to attract in excess of 80,000 people, furniture is on the minds of many homeowners and designers this time of year.

Furniture Showroom Entrance Furniture manufacturers and retailers across the globe are crunching Q3 numbers and reporting mixed results, as a tepid economy and lukewarm consumer confidence allow only the best in the industry to thrive.

“Contempo Space in a certain way has easier decisions to make than some others in the furniture industry,” says Danielle Mancini, a consumer satisfaction specialist for the company.

While bix box stores and international brands attempt to maximize profits with traditional methods such as negotiating furniture pricing with suppliers, offering a varying quality of furniture, adjusting wholesale/retail pricing or possibly managing large advertising and marketing budgets, Mancini says that Contempo Space is in a unique position.

Custom Furniture Means More Choices

“Since we’re a custom manufacturer selling directly to our customers, our advantage is that we can offer our visitors an unparalleled level of service.

“A customer walking into a typical furniture store has a certain number of pieces to choose from. A common issue we hear about is that there’s something for sale that’s close to what the customer had in mind, but for a purchase like furniture it’s going to be around for a long time. The customer is going to be happier if they can get exactly what they want instead of feeling like they had to make some kind of compromise.”

Listening Closely to Customers

Mancini adds that they have this insight because of their close interaction with customers.

“Many customers just need a little tweak to a certain piece of furniture, and they tell us about their space and we can do that for them since we make all the furniture ourselves. When it’s a whole room or a whole home, there’s a lot of conversation that happens with the customers and we get to know each other quite well. Even the customers who buy directly online are offered a feedback survey so they can let us know how we’re doing.”

With only a few dozen employees, it’s relatively easy to get everybody together and discuss what customers appreciate the most as well as any new customer challenges that might be able to solved through innovative design.

Fall Colors: Fashion, Foliage and Furniture

Now that fall has officially “fallen,” there’s plenty of talk about color on the web. New York has a fall foliage report with current information on the current state of fall colors throughout the state.

Always thinking ahead, the folks at Pantone published their fall fashion color report as early as February of this year.

While the trees and the clothes within your wardrobe may change more often than the furniture in your home, Autumn is the time of year when more people are thinking about the home as Summer vacations are over and cooler temperatures lead people spending more time inside the home (at least here in the northern latitudes).

While more traditional wood tones are almost always a “safe” choice, more consumers are making bolder choices such as black or white as modern styles become more popular.

Color for Interior Decorating

If you’re painting, redecorating or refurnishing this year, don’t underestimate the effects of color on mood. One common technique used by interior designers is to paint most of a room in a neutral hue except for one “accent wall,” which serves to bring a feeling of energy to the room.

This color of the accent wall is usually then reflected in the color of some of the room’s decor. It’s easy (with some searching of course, but for some that’s the fun part!) to find or create art, silk flowers or other accent pieces of a similar color to tie the theme together.

Don’t Overlook Color for Furniture

It’s often more difficult with furniture, however. That’s where we step in to help. The Marco Entertainment Center above is pictured with colored glass fronts in a color we call Lagoon. This is actually a similar color to one of those listed in Pantone’s color report, Ultramarine Green.

Custom Closet Project: Walk-In & Reach-In Closets

A few weeks ago we announced the addition of custom closets to our site. It was mentioned that the custom closet systems are designed for use within walk-in or reach-in closets, but the initial photography wasn’t fully representative of all the possibilities (believe it or not, we don’t have as much use as you’d think for a walk in closet here at the factory showroom.)

Walk-In Closet Transformed!

As you can imagine, before we showed up this closet had a reasonable storage capacity exactly equal to the square footage of the floor.

After our crew installed the Isa custom closet, there are four hand rods and 12 shelving ares (9 of the shelves are fully adjustable), as well as shallow and deep drawers.

Why shallow drawers? With closets, bigger is better, right? Not always…

This closet owner opted to include one of our jewelry trays to help keep things organized. Jewelry is one of many things that isn’t best suited to a very deep drawer space.

Walk-In Closet #2

The second walk-in closet (below) was customized a bit differently. Half of the back wall is dedicated to a double hanging module.

The remaining closet space has three deep drawers, and the shelves above are independently adjustable. They look nice and even now, but as the customer’s storage needs change the closet is flexible to accommodate this.

Reach-In Closet

We’ve all seen the big reach in closets with the sliding doors. All too often, they slide open to reveal one lonely, overstressed hangrod and some piles of stuff on the floor.

It doesn’t have to be this way! On the other side of the home the Isa closet system was set up behind the sliding doors.

Four short hang rods still hold just as many hangers, but are much stronger and will not sag over time. We even snuck an extra one in on the left side for good measure

Then there’s everything one would expect to see in a well designed closet: plenty of adjustable shelves, belt rack, tie rack, and hey… what’s that thing?

Is that an extendable closet valet down there? That’s a nice touch!

That’s all of them. We just figured it wasn’t fair to tell everybody we’re out installing these things and not give you a peek!

Mirrored Wardrobe Closet Makes Room Look Larger

Mirrored wardrobe closets have some kind of magic to them. It’s a simple magic really. We’ve shown this before with a 2 door wardrobe closet, here’s the effect with a 4 door wardrobe.

Without making structural changes to existing walls or closets, huge amounts of hanging and drawer storage can be gained with any wardrobe closet. That’s enough to make anybody feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

The simple addition of mirrored doors then enhances that by making the room look twice as deep as it did before!

Above, you see the closet with all doors opened. It’s a wall with a freestanding closet in front of it. It’s certainly more useful than a wall with nothing in front of it.

Below, you see essentially the same space. This time the closed mirror doors make it look as though the room continues all the way through, even though we are still looking toward the same wall.

It’s a neat trick of light that makes any size room feel more open and inviting.

Contempo Space Comes to Chicago!

CHICAGO – Contempo Space, custom furniture company based in Passaic, NJ, announces expansion of its “In-Home Delivery & Setup” service to include Chicago, Aurora, Naperville, Joliet, Elgin, Arlington Heights, and the surrounding metro area.

Contempo Space is pleased to welcome the Chicago area into its circle of valued customers.

“Homeowners and interior designers from in and around Chicago have been finding us online when looking for contemporary furniture, and it was a little pricey to get the furniture to those customers since our own drivers weren’t going out there,” says sales rep Lisa Stolz.

As was done with Florida in recent weeks, the furniture makers solved the problem by adding new delivery routes. The delivery teams set up the fully assembled furniture in the consumer’s home or office.

The designers at Contempo Space excel in producing free standing modern/contemporary furniture, mainly for the bedroom, living room and home office.

Custom Furniture Without the Custom Price Tag

“The idea is to make the furniture look good, of course,” says Stolz, “but that alone isn’t enough. There’s lots of good looking furniture out there. What’s not out there, is the utility and level of customization that we can offer.

“People are shopping around and telling us that they will find a nice looking wall unit, but it doesn’t match what they already have or what they’re planning. Most of the trendy entertainment units out there now also don’t have much storage space, which is another thing customers keep telling us is influencing their decisions.

“A lot of custom furniture people want to make each piece from scratch, and it costs twice as much, maybe three times as much. It’s either that, or they can order in something to put together themselves and hope it never needs to be moved.”

Contempo Space is Different

“The difference is that we already have the tools, materials and processes in place to put together exactly what the customer needs, and we can do it in a dozen wood finishes, mirror, black, white, colored glass… It’s something like 300 combinations of finishes we can do for any of the wall units, wardrobe closets and bedroom pieces.”

It’s still really hard in some places to find furniture that’s made with this kind of flexibility and attention to detail without breaking the bank, but it’s now much easier for Chicagoland residents.

Modern Furniture Comes to Florida as Contempo Space Expands

FLORIDA – Contempo Space, a modern furniture maker with custom capabilities and a showroom in Passaic, NJ, announces expansion of its “In-Home Delivery & Setup” service to include the Sunshine State.

Furniture shoppers in NYC and northern NJ, where Contempo Space keeps its headquarters and factory showroom, may already know that it’s nearly impossible to find real customizable furniture at a reasonable price point.

“It’s like a breath of fresh air to finally be able to stop looking at bedroom furniture that’s a compromise,” says customer Lisa Havely, looking at some design drawings. “Now I’m going to be able to do the whole bedroom exactly how I want, and the price is fantastic!”

“Florida Chose Us”

The New Jersey based factory showroom has been getting more and more calls from Florida residents and designers since they opened up online furniture shopping in June of this year.

“Florida chose us,” replies design consultant Michael Smith, when asked about the expansion. “We’ve been hearing from people in Miami, Boca, Sarasota, Tampa… a few other places. When the customers send us a strong message like this, we listen!

“Florida is telling us they want us around, so we’re going to be there for them.”

The Furniture

Contempo Space makes furniture in the contemporary style, with clean, smooth lines designed to give an uncluttered look to any space.

Freestanding wardrobe closet storage is available in a limitless amount of configurations and finishes, including the exceedingly popular mirrored fronts.

While wardrobes add more overall storage space, the recently announced Isa Custom Closet Systems make better use of existing closet space with an array of hanging, shelving and drawer configurations that are installed within existing walk-in or reach-in closet space.

Design consultants can put together entire custom bedrooms, adding led lighting to furniture interiors, fashioning storage headboards, pier walls, or doing creative things such as combining the customer’s favorite parts of different pieces to create a TV armoire wardrobe wall or using wardrobes as room dividers to manage space.

The modern wall units are designed with the same utilitarian principles in mind. While many of the wall units focus on a TV cavity, these entertainment units are unusual in that they are able to offer very large amounts of storage space while keeping a clean, almost minimalistic look on the exterior.

Storage within the wall units ranges from shallow drawers which deftly separate open display areas; to mirrored, top lit glass shelved curios; to doors nearly 7 feet tall containing adjustable shelving; to upward opening top storage doors with pneumatic hinges.

All furniture is fully assembled from the factory. Cases and drawers are glued, doweled, stapled, and squared during construction to ensure the kind of durability and longevity that can only be had in preassembled furniture.

Isa Custom Closet Systems Now Available at Contempo Space

What is a custom closet system?

Isa custom closet systems are modular closet units that are made-to-order based on specifications chosen by the customer. The cabinets can be ordered in several widths, allowing them to be installed (Contempo Space handles installing the closets for most customers) into a walk in closet, built in closet or reach in closet of most any size.

Furniture Wood Finishes

In addition to having choice of size, the custom closets are available in a full range of finishes. These range from light wood to dark wood, even going so far as to include black and white.

Where the Isa collection of closet systems really shines though, is in its versatility. There’s something in the custom closets section that will solve any wardrobe storage problem.

There are double hanging rods, single hangrods set up different ways to hang tall clothes or short clothes. Even a triple hang closet for kids clothes!

Custom Shoe Closet

“I think one of the things people are going to really appreciate is the shoe closet,” says Gary Flax, a design consultant at Contempo.

“People might get a few pairs of nice shoes for going out, maybe different shoes for work then some sneakers and casual footwear.

“Without even meaning to, a couple of people can end up with quite a collection of shoes in their closet.”

Like all the custom closets, the shelves are adjustable so high heels and flat shoes can each have their own safe place that’s just the right size.

Another feature available for the built-in Isa closets is drawer boxes. The 4 drawer, 4 shelf closet organization system (pictured above right) is a good example of the versatility that can be had.

The lower drawers are deep to contain plenty of clothes (or anything else), while the top drawers are shallow for items that demand easy access. The upper half of the closet system is equipped with adjustable shelves.

Why Custom Closets?

Contempo Space has always been a leader in coming up with better ways to solve the storage & organization problems that seemingly everybody has. In the case of the freestanding wardrobes that are very popular, this means helping customers who need more closet space.

Isa Custom closet systems are an extension of this same idea. If the useful space in a closet has been exhausted, sometimes the solution is to create more useful space in the closet!

Similarly to the other closet furniture manufactured by Contempo Space, a final touch of customization can be added to units that have drawers by choosing from several ( a dozen) handle options. There is no upcharge on any of these.

Different from freestanding closet offerings, the Isa closet systems need to be attached to the back wall. Within its service areas, Contempo Space will send a team who also handles the installation.

Custom Bedroom Wall Unit w Doors, Drawers & TV Space

Bedroom Wall Unit Everybody knows we make a pretty mean wardrobe closet.

Anybody who’s tried to find a freestanding wall unit like the ones we make can tell you that it’s impossible.

Some of our custom furniture designs however, only get to be seen by the lucky customer who has them in their home. Until now.

Bedroom Wall Unit Showcase

Sometimes a regular wardrobe/armoire won’t do. This intelligent customer wasn’t going to settle for the standard dresser & TV stand setup.

Bedroom Wall Unit TV Cavity Pictured left is the television cavity toward the center of the wall unit. The television didn’t get placed until after the photo shoot, but rest assured it was a perfect fit.

A pair of open front component areas below are ready to house the electronics.

The drawers below or cabinets above will make safe homes for media, remotes, accessories and everything else needs to be easily accessible.

Chrome finished Tortellini handles sound and look European, and are a good choice on a wall unit with so many doors.

How is this bedroom wall unit attached to the wall?

The beauty of it is that this wall unit is free standing, and is not attached to the wall in any way. The (just about) floor to ceiling dimensions help to give this particular creation a built-in appearance.

As extraordinary as it may be, the furniture you see here is as sturdy as any other, and does a fine job of standing on its own.

We’ve found that customers normally prefer to not have their bedroom furniture attached to anything it doesn’t need to be attached to. Bedroom walls are actually one of the very first things customers mention when discussing things they would prefer their furniture not be attached to!

What’s inside the wardrobe doors of the wall unit?

Bedroom Wall Unit Interior Drawers and Shelves

Generally speaking, the wardrobe interior configurations are limited mostly by the imagination alone.

In this bedroom project, the tall doors are mostly concealing a combination of hangrods, interior drawers and adjustable shelves. There’s plenty of variety, yet still plenty of simplicity.

To see some examples of the variety of interior configurations that can be done, check out the Bella Collection page. The wardrobes shown are a good representation of the kinds of shelf, hangrod and drawer combinations that can be used. Customers base their choice upon what kinds of items they will be storing and organizing inside the furniture.

The upper storage doors each hold a shelf. This almost always the best way to use that space. Since it’s higher and not as easy to see everything inside, it usually makes sense to keep it simple up there.
