Contempo Space Congratulates Archbishop Timothy Dolan

February 17, 2012 By Michael Smith

Archbishop DolanSaturday Feb. 18 Timothy Dolan, the Archbishop of New York, will be elevated to the level of Cardinal by Pope Benedict XVI at Saint Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican City.

Archbishop Dolan left for Rome earlier this week, but like anyone with roots in the big apple, he is already “pining for New York,” reports the New York Daily News.  The position of Archbishop in the New York Diocese is often referred to as “the American Pope,” however some followers have suggested that Dolan may actually ascend to the Vatican throne within his lifetime, becoming the first American Pope of the Catholic faith.  Dolan, ever light-hearted and jovial, responded that those believers are “as deluded as Mets fans,” according to the New York Daily News.

Whether he resides in the Vatican or St. Patrick’s Cathedral, we at Contempo Space congratulate Archbishop Dolan on his ascension to the Cardinalate.  Like Dolan, Contempo Space’s heart lies along the banks of the Hudson, and we’re proud a member of our community has received such an honor.
